Arulnanthy Vidyalayam is a small but vital primary school in the heart of Achchuvelly, serving children from Year 1 to 5. With just 45 pupils and 5 dedicated teachers, it stands as a beacon of hope for families who have very little, but dream of so much more for their children.
Most of the children at this school come from families of day labourers, working on farms to earn just enough to survive. Many of their parents never had the chance to complete their own education — but they know one thing for sure: education is the only way their children can break the cycle of poverty.
For these families, sending a child to school — even a local one — is a challenge. School bags, pencils, books, shoes… these are not guaranteed. That’s where the AKAS Foundation steps in. We provide starter packs and ongoing support to ensure these children don’t fall behind simply because they were born into hardship.
