Primary School in Achchuvelly stands as one of the most respected primary schools in the village, serving children from Year 1 to 5. With 210 students and 10 dedicated teachers, it’s often the first choice for parents who want the best possible start for their children. Many pupils who begin their journey here go on to study at Achchuvelly Central College or even attend top schools in Jaffna town.
But behind the school’s good reputation lies a harsh truth: over 60% of the children come from families struggling to survive. Parents work long hours as labourers, in shops, or in local markets — often without earning enough to properly feed their families. Despite the school’s strengths, poverty continues to hold many students back.
