Ratnesvary Vidyalayam is a small but determined school in Achchuvelly, serving students from Year 1 to 9. With 52 pupils and 11 teachers, the school provides an essential education path for children who would otherwise have few options. It is more than just a school — it is a lifeline for children from some of the most financially vulnerable families in the village.
Like many rural schools in the area, Ratnesvary Vidyalayam faces daily challenges. Most of the children come from households where parents work as day labourers on farms — often struggling to meet even the most basic needs. Many of these parents never had access to quality education themselves, yet they understand its value deeply: education is their children’s only real chance at a better life.
The AKAS Foundation works closely with this school to ensure that no child is left behind due to poverty. From providing school starter packs to encouraging long-term support, our aim is simple — to ensure these young learners have the tools, confidence, and encouragement to stay in school and pursue their dreams.
